Welcome Letter
September 9, 2015
Dear Faculty Colleagues in the Graduate and Professional Divisions:
The start of the academic year is always an exciting time as we begin our courses anew and return to our research and scholarship endeavors. We welcome a new class of enthusiastic and eager students and we share in the excitement of the final year for those set to graduate in 2016. Faculty committees in each of our schools are setting new agendas and working to ensure delivery of the highest quality curricular offerings, exemplary student support and a continued culture of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and service to the Institution and to the community.
The first month as Interim Provost for the Graduate and Professional Divisions has been filled with reading and meetings as we work to build a robust Office of the Provost that will be supportive of, and beneficial to, Touro College faculty in our graduate and professional schools. Productive initial meetings with representatives of the Graduate Faculty Council, the Research Council, the Research Collaborative, the Office of Sponsored Programs and meetings with leadership from our various schools has produced a list of ideas and initiatives for the Office. I thank everyone for the warm reception and assistance.
Shortly, the Office of Provost will appear on the Touro College website with information and links to important resources for faculty. Together with Vice President Nadja Graff, we will visit each of the schools to meet with faculty for the purpose of listening to your suggestions on how the newly established Office of the Provost can best support the exceptional work you do on behalf of our students, our communities, and our professions.
I look forward to getting to know you and to the opportunity to work collaboratively as we continue to enhance and strengthen our programs. Please do not hesitate to contact me with suggestions or questions (patricia.salkin@touro.edu).
Sincerely,
Patricia E. Salkin
